This illustration was apart of the concept stage for Wikimedia NYC. Wikicurious is an event that teaches beginners how to edit Wikipedia articles.

This concept uses a figure speeding through space on the Wikipedia ball. The Wikipedia globe is subtle and not in your face. The image also softly gives the vibe of the Avatar Last Airbender  to give a gentle nostalgic feeling. During discovery we found that Wiki means quick in Hawaiian so we placed this figure on a speeding Wiki-ball. The character is updating a wiki page using the references surrounding them.

This concept brings the requested playful / creative vibe while speaking to the “for beginners” crowd with it’s simplistic shapes. The Avatar reference also speeks to the mentioned “nerd crowd” that this event is aimed at.
